Daily Procedures
for
Mr. Snethen’s Classroom |
Starter Activities
We’ll begin each day with a starter activity. Instructions will be on the board, the ActivBoard, or given verbally. Begin working on it right away. Attendance will be taken during the starter--when the bell rings. Don’t be tardy. |
Bell Behavior
In order to get the most out of class, get to class ON TIME.
The starters are set up to introduce the lesson and are part of our daily grade, so the time will be well spent.
We’ll have daily assignments, notes/discussion, and continuing projects that will require work right up to the dismissal bell. There will be no need to gather by the door before the bell rings. |
Leaving Class
Passes will be presented to the teacher at the beginning of class--remember to get advanced make up slips so that the homework doesn’t pile up.
Only ONE student at a time is allowed in the hallways.
Bathroom/water breaks are only allowed for emergencies or during individual work times. Use the facilities close by (hallway by art room/junior lockers)…extended trips will lead to NO trips. |
Music Players/Headphones/iPads/Readers
To limit distractions and to maintain school policy, earbuds and headphones will be kept off and out of sight during class tests, instruction, discussions, and lectures. They can be used during reading and individual work time, if kept at a low volume.
Nooks, Kindles, and iPads are wonderful tools. However, they become a distraction if they interrupt our attention to the subject matter and are not being used for instructional purposes.
The instructor will keep any devices used/heard in class until the end of the school day. |
Phones
Cell phones have no purpose in this classroom during the school day. Therefore, cell phones will be kept silent and out of sight. When asked to "put away" phones, "away" means in your bag or in your pocket. Phones will go into the PHONE HOTEL during all tests or quizzes. Tri-Valley school policy will be enforced. |
Water Bottles
Beverages from the vending machines can be brought to class until they create too many messes.
Water bottles will be allowed in class as long as the water remains a beverage and not a projectile. Fill them BEFORE the 2nd bell rings.
Beverages from outside the school will not be allowed in the classroom |
Gum and Candy
Gum will be unseen and unheard, or it will be thrown away. Gum will be disposed of in the wastebaskets.
Candy and other foods will be eaten elsewhere.
Keep the classroom clean. |
Textbooks
Bring your books to class. Textbooks will generally be required every day. Reading will be assigned to reinforce the material covered in class. Our books will be a very important part of our class work. Take proper care of them.
For online textbooks, be sure you know your login information and have your computer ready. |
Homework
Lesson Plans are updated daily--Check my school website. We’ll have something to do every day. It may be a specific assignment; it may be continued work on a project or assigned reading.
Homework will be graded. Be sure that it is done neatly and is signed, so it will get full credit.
Points will be deducted daily for late homework, until they’re gone. Turn in late work, regardless of the grade. “Some points” are better than “no points”. |
Grading
Our grading scale is posted behind the teacher’s desk.
Tests, written work, and projects will be the highest percentage of the grades.
Extra credit will be part of our tests and quizzes, and will not involve any extra work.
Grades will be weighted as follows:
Computers
The Tri-Valley acceptable use policy will be the guideline for all computer applications in this class. GAMES ARE NOT AN ACCEPTABLE USE.
We will use our Laptops daily for class and for homework.
Again, check the lesson plans on my school website. |
