SD Legislature Activity

1.     Go to the website linked on today’s lesson plan

2.     Pick out 2 bills (one from the House and one from the Senate).

3.     List the legislator(s) who sponsored the bill.

4.     Summarize the subject of the bill.

5.     Note the progress of each in this session (How close is it to becoming a law?).

6.     Are you in favor of this bill becoming law?  Explain your answer.

7.     Hand in your summary to your teacher when the bills are finished.

8.   Use the table below to organize your assignment.  Copy/Paste it into a GoogleDoc.  You can share the completed project to my email address ( dan.snethen@k12.sd.us ) when it is done.

Important items to remember...

• Any bills tabled to the 41st Legislative Day are dead.

• When a bill is voted down by a committee it is dead.

• When a bill is voted down in either house it is dead.

• Assignment must be turned in before the end of the 3rd quarter, regardless of the status of the bills.
